The IEE Wiring Regulations state that terminals shall not be subject to undue stress, i.e. taking weight of cables or fittings. Currently a high proportion of Junction Boxes are installed behind Downlighters or decorative light fittings, where moving the Junction Box in to position after wiring could cause stress on the terminations.
With the NEW Ashley J501 Junction Box, these obstacles can be overcome.

Easy to use
Ashley has designed the new box to fit nicely in the hand of the installer to help the connection and clamping of the cables. The new box also allows mixed cable types, comprising of three-plate style terminal arrangement enabling the twin and CPC and flexible cords to be mixed.
Wide application suitability
The new J501 Junction Box is suitable for the majority of downlighter applications, including commercial and domestic applications for use with the following types;
PAR 45 & above
50mm GU10 & ELV 12V straight downlights
35mm GU10 & ELV 12V eyeballs
And fits through 58mm holes
Compliance with latest regulations
In order to comply with the latest regulations, Ashley have designed the J501 to prevent strain on terminations and prevent exposure to unsheathed conductors. The new box also prevents damage to flexible conductors.

Terminals
A junction box has solid brass terminals and screws, for excellent conductivity and positive clamping of conductors, there are also extra strong terminals to hold multiple conductors.
Installation
There is a selection of entries for cables, and large capacity slot terminals for unbroken ring circuit installations. All junction boxes comply with BS 6220.
